Google Cloud Campus is part of a 650,000sf five-building campus in South Lake Union that houses teams working on projects for Cloud, Android, Maps and Chrome. The project also includes a residential apartment building above the offices.
The buildings feature ground floor public spaces, a 6-story office podium, and a 14-story residential tower. Addressing the stunning lake views with its expansive glass curtain walls, the podium takes the form of stacked linear planks that make reference to the palletized assemblages that once defined the lakefront. From the outside, these extensions hint at what might appear to be multi-colored shipping containers.
Developed by Vulcan Real Estate for Google, Pixlwrks was commissioned by Graphite Design Studio to help visualize the design concept to present to the local design review board. Our visualization strategy included highlighting the project’s location on the edge of Lake Union with the light rail system running adjacent to it, as well as satisfying the architect’s request to show the building at different times during the day and a variety of weather conditions.
